The naturalistic path develops along the coastal zone of the landscapes of Ugento. This area has been identified as Special Area for Conservation (SAC) for the Natura2000 Network of the European Union and has become a Regional Natural Park in May 2007. Moving from the sea to the inland it is possible to observe a succession of diverse habitats and vegetation types such as sandy or rocky coast, retrodunal marshlands, wetlands and maquis. A particular point of interest for sightseeing is the “gravinelle” (Ravines), a big karstic parallel canals system perpendicular to the coastline. In ravines it is still possible to find a vegetation of evergreen oak (Quecus ilex), enriched by some carobs trees (Ceratonia siliqua).
